DME mobile e-mail client provides first secure solution for corporate e-mails on the iPhone
Excitor is launching its DME e-mail client for the iPhone in October, 2008. The launch signifies a new era for the iPhone; providing IT departments with the assurance that executives and employees can securely access company e-mails, documents and contacts from their iPhone.
The only enterprise-class email client on the market
The first version of the DME iPhone client supports synchronization of contacts and e-mail. It is especially targeted at IBM Lotus Domino customers, but also suited for Microsoft Exchange customers who are not using the built-in Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync integration from Apple. As the only solution on the market with these capabilities, it will also:
- include e-mail attachment support
- allow synchronization of e-mail sub-folders,
- search e-mails on the server
- allow users to access their global contact books
This makes DME the leading solution for the iPhone when it comes to enterprise-class synchronization of e-mails and security facilities.
Developed from the ground up: The best possible encryption and password protection
Unlike other early market offerings, Excitor has developed a fully secure mobile e-mail client for the iPhone which does not only rely on the IMAP protocol or web-based interfaces for e-mail exchange. This gives companies the best possible security and the same administration and infrastructure for the iPhone as the DME solution provides for all other device types.
Excitor’s DME e-mail client for the iPhone will support the same high level of security and fine grained control options as DME provides for other mobile handsets. Traffic to the iPhone will be encrypted, and then all messages on the phone will be stored in an encrypted format and only decrypted when viewed on the phone. As always with DME mobile e-mail on a mobile phone, the solution is password protected and the authentication is fully integrated into both IBM Lotus Domino LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory. With these secure features, enterprise IT Managers have the additional assurance that the iPhone will not pose security threats to their networks.
Distributed through Apple's Application Store
The DME iPhone e-mail client will be available through Apple's Application store once released from Excitor in October. It requires a DME gateway server and DME user licenses but is otherwise free. It is available for DME server version 2.0 and onwards.
